The national government has issued preventive recommendations to avoid the spread of influenza A H3N2 sub-clade K, a variant that has raised alerts in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. In the region, countries like Chile and Peru have already confirmed cases, while Bolivia and Ecuador have activated alerts and stepped up vaccination campaigns. As of now, Argentina has registered three cases, according to the Argentine News Agency (NA). The Ministry of Health stated in a communiqué shared on X that while the variant 'has not shown itself to be more severe than others,' it is necessary to maintain usual care measures against respiratory viruses. These include: frequent handwashing; covering your mouth when coughing or sneezing; not sharing personal objects; properly ventilating spaces; cleaning and disinfecting surfaces; consulting the health system for respiratory symptoms. The health authority also reminded that the annual flu vaccine should be received by: children from 6 to 24 months; pregnant and postpartum women; people from 2 to 64 years with risk factors; people over 65 years of age; health and strategic personnel. It also recommended keeping National Vaccination Calendar immunization schemes up to date, which are free at vaccination centers and health clinics.
